A young Grenada man is dead from a gunshot wound, according to police.
According to Det. Lt. George Douglas, a man he identified as Charles Smith, 28, was pronounced dead by officials from the Grenada County Coroner’s office in a house at 64 Middle Road between 11 a.m. and noon Wednesday.
Grenada police initially responded to a report of shots fired, Douglas said, and found Smith when they arrived.
Smith suffered at least one gunshot wound, Douglas said. He would not speculate if the fatal wound was self-inflicted.
Smith’s body is on its way to Jackson for a autopsy by the State Crime Lab, Douglas said.
