The Grenada County Board of Supervisors quickly adjourned into executive session Monday afternoon as representatives from the Butler Snow Law Firm were on-hand to discuss the future of Grenada Lake Medical Center.
“There is a confidentiality agreement attendant to each interested party’s participation,” said County Attorney Jay Gore III, as he advised the supervisors to take their discussion of the hospital’s future behind closed doors.
Gore, along with Board President Chad Bridges, said he understood that there is wide interest about the medical center’s future, but the complexities of negotiating a lease necessitated utmost privacy.
“We may get a little way down the road in negotiations with one party, then hit a snag,” said Gore, adding that whatever has been made public might compromise negotiations with another party.
Bridges earlier confirmed that at least four parties were interested in leasing the hospital. Those parties included University Medical Center in Jackson, North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis and Health Management of Naples, Fla.
Bridges made the motion to consider going into executive session, seconded by District Four Supervisor Darrell Robinson.
The motion to enter executive session was proposed by District One Supervisor Michael Lott and seconded by District Five Supervisor Chad Gray.
