The leader of Grenada’s public schools has been named superintendent
of the year by the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. or
MASA,
Dr. David Daigneault was named the top honoree Friday.
“My slogan for the district has been to work smarter, not harder,”
said Daigneault, as he was surrounded by friends and colleagues at a
reception Thursday.
Grenada’s head educator took the reigns in 2006. Since then Grenada’s
dropout rate has decreased by 17 percent, and the completion rate,
which includes students who earned GEDs, has increased by 23 percent.
Grenada’s graduation rate has increased by 21 percent during
Daigneault’s tenure, and for the first time Grenada High School was
designated as High Performing according to standardized test scores.
