It looked like the scene at the end of The Wizard of Oz.
The balloon, which moments before had been weighted down with the muscle of Grenada firefighters, gradually lifted from the pavement. Sandy Smith, from the Grenada Tourism Department, looking a little like Dorothy, waved goodbye to all her friends.
Ohhs and ahhs rose up as Smith, along with pilot Mark Bowie, drifted high over Sunset Dr., carried by the breeze. They gradually became just a dot in the bright, evening sky.
