| In 1987, Visions members were Scott Carlton, Beth Orrell, Robin McGonagill, Shay Harris, Krista Campbell, Greg Hubbard, John Saxon, Juan Moss and Robbie Parks.
Throughout the nation, state, and community, Visions has entertained thousands of people by performing musical numbers that can move anyone.
This weekend at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Visions Show Choir will be performing in their twentieth year and according to current Visions Director Jenni McCrory, the whole thing is very exciting.
"The kids have been working very hard," McCrory said, "and they are excited about the show as well." McCrory said the show's theme is "A Journey to the Past."
Visions' first director was Cecile Martin of Birmingham (formerly Cecile McNeil) 1986-1990.
"Visions was a vision of Buddy Pender," Martin said.
Martin says in 1986 both she and Pender came up with the name of the showchoir.
After that, Visions became a household name for people throughout Grenada as well as the state.
"That same year we performed at Governor Ray Mabus' inauguration in Jackson," Martin said.
"I knew it would be awesome."
Martin said the kids she worked with had an excellent work ethic that stayed with them well into their adulthood.
"One year, I remember, we practiced for our spring concert the entire spring break," Martin said.
Former Visions Director Kathy Hull of Nashville (formerly Kathy Mills) 1995-2001 says she will definitely be back for the concert.
"So many students have come and gone through Visions and studied in many different fields," Mills said.
Mills said she thinks it is evident that with all the students that participated they realized nothing is impossible.
Former Visions member and Alabama resident Robin McGonagill Meredith 1986-1989 said she too would be back to the concert and can hardly wait.
"Visions taught me self confidence and responsibility and it gave me a love of the arts that carried into my career," Meredith said.
Other past Vision directors include Nancy Clark and Gail Dorroh.
Visions' twentieth anniversary spring concert "A Journey to the Past" will be performed at Grenada High School Auditorium.
