It was a successful weekend for Grenada Youth League all-star teams. Four of the teams played in a tournament at Batesville while a fifth group was in Horn Lake. Three of the teams emerged as tournament champions. A fourth team placed second. Seven-year old The Titans took part in a tournament in Batesville and won the title. They opened with a 19-4 win over Hernando. Bailey Allbritton, Webb Roberts, and Abbott Hankins all went 3-3. Mason Blankenship and Gray Dale were the defensive standouts. Grenada finished pool play unbeaten with a 19-11 win over Corinth. Evan Hobson, Rob Houston Bailey, Cole Dungan, and Blake Morgan all went 3-3. Drew Edwards and Peyton Estes had an outstanding defensive game. Moving into bracket play, Grenada defeated Senatobia 22-10. Hankins and Dale both finished 3-3. Allbritton, Dungan, and Blankenship all played well on the defensive side. Grenada opens play in the South State Tournament hosted at Grenada Youth League. They will face Starkville at Noon to open the-eight team tournament. Title game Bailey, Hobson, and Morgan all went 4-4 as Grenada won the title with a 21-13 win. Roberts, Edwards, and Estes were the defensive standouts. Nine-year old The Bearkats survived an opening round loss to win their division at Batesville. That opening game was an 11-10 setback against Batesville. In game two, Grenada won a 17-5 decision over Senatobia. Bryce Barrow led the offensive attack going 3-3. Caleb Stoekly and Chaz Trost were both 2-2. Warner Herring was the winning pitcher. He got defensive help from Hayden Mitchell and Payton Duke. The third game was a 14-1 win over Pontotoc. Gage Little was 3-3 with a double and a homerun. Logan Pitcock was 3-3 with a triple and three RBI. Baylee Trusty was the winning pitcher. He got defensive help from Ty Williams, Dalton Bell, and Duke. Grenada and Batesville met in the title game with the Bearkats winning a 12-11 decision. Bell and Williams paced the offensive attack each going 4-5. Trusty got the win. Bryce Barrow earned the dame pitching the final inning. Grenada opens play July 9 at Batesville in the North State Tournament. They will face Corinth. 11-year old The Grenada Renegades took part in the North Mississippi All-Star Bash at Latimer Park at Horn Lake this past weekend. In the opener, Grenada downed the 12-year old all stars from Hernando by a score of 12-5. Ryan McDaniel, Wyatt Harrison, and Levi Caldwell combined on the pitching. Game 2 saw Grenada win a 15-0 win over the Horn Lake 11-year old all stars. Bradley Sanford and Anderson Roberts combined on a no-hitter. The third win Saturday was an 8-6 decision over the Horn Lake 12-year old all stars. Roberts, Joey Badome, Harrison, and Sanford combined on the pitching. In the title game, Grenada blasted the 11-year old team from Horn Lake 21-1. Badome and Sanford combined on the pitching. Defensive standout for the tournament were Grant Martin, Joey Branson, Clay Ralston, Tristan Jones, and Trent Walls. Grenada begins play Friday in the North State Tournament at Eupora. 10-year old The 10-year old all star team finished second in the tournament at Batesville. Game 1 saw Grenada down Batesville 8-2. Kyle Bement and Tanner Grantham combined on the pitching with Grantham getting the win. Landon Harbin led the offensive attack with two doubles. Dane Bevell had a double and a single. In game two, Grenada defeated Batesville 13-6 . Bryan Barrow, who combined on the pitching with Cody Horne, had two hits. Jordan Smith finished with two hits. The third game saw Grenada edged past Batesville 12-11. Grantham and Bement combined on the pitching. Austin Woodall had the game-winning hit. Andrew McDurmon led the attack with two hits. In the title game, Grenada fell to Senatobia. Harbin had a double and a triple to lead the offense. Austin Branscome had an inside the park homerun. Defensively, Holland Bailey played well. Horne gave a solid effort on the mound in a losing effort. Grenada opens play in the South State Tournament Friday at 4 p.m. in Columbus against Grenada Parks and Recreation.
