Pierre Emmanuel Allen
Funeral services for Private First Class Pierre Emmanuel Allen, 21, of Ft. Bragg, N.C., are Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Full military honors will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery following the service.
Visitation is Saturday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gardiner Room.
PFC Allen, with the United States Army, Headquarters Company, 37th Engineers Battalion, 20th Engineer Brigade, died May 24, 2008, in an attempt to rescue swimmers in the waters off of Panama Beach, Fla.
Allen is remembered as dedicated to both the military and his family. Also, he was an outstanding student and athlete. In addition to Beta Club and many academic awards, Allen was a member of the first place State 4 x 4 track team and winner of the State 300-meter run. He was selected as a Jr. Olympics (Hawaii) team member and traveled with a Memphis track team in the summer after graduating from Water Valley High School in 2005. Allen attended Mississippi State University on a track scholarship before joining the U.S. Army in 2006 and becoming a legal specialist. PFC Allen was a member of Everdale M.B. Church of Water Valley.
PFC Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Sheila Turner.
Survivors include his wife, LaRhonda Allen; his father, Steve Allen (Dale) of Water Valley; one daughter, Alexandrea Allen; two step-daughters, Simone White and LaQuaysha Rockette; and one step-son, Jerimyah Neely, all of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; six sisters, Stephanie Allen and Jasmine Allen, both of Water Valley, Darlene Turner-Miller of Lancaster, Calif., Juante’ Lunsford of Palmdale, Calif., Donnisha Butler-Turner of Atlanta, and Chelsie Allen of Buena Vista, Va.; and his step-mother, Tracy Allen of Water Valley.

Childress Jr.                                                  Funeral services for Robert E. “Junior” Childress Jr., 59, of Southaven and formerly of Chicago and Grenada, are Saturday at 11 a.m. at First New Hope M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hardy.
Mr. Childress died May 21, 2008, at his home in Southaven.
He was born Aug. 8, 1948, to Mr. Robert and Mrs. Lola Childress Sr.
Mr. Childress was a 1967 graduate of Carrie Dotson High School and a retired worker for Amtrak.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Childress is survived by his wife, Annie Faye “Lula” Childress of Southaven, a son, Darrick Melton of Joliet, Ill.; two daughters, CeCelia Brent and A. Monique Childress of Memphis; and a sister, Ann Liddell of Grenada.
Clark-Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Buddy Earl Pettway, 37, of Grenada, are Saturday at 10 a.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Coffeeville.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home.
Mr. Pettway died May 28, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 5, 1970, to the late Jones Bert “Buddy” Pettway and Betty Ann Fisk Byford.
Mr. Pettway attended the Church of God and was a self-employed small engine and boat repairman.
 In addition to his father, Mr. Pettway was preceded in death by a sister, Neda Faye Pettway.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Ann Haley Pettway; two daughters, Casey Lynn Pettway and Breanna Nicole Pettway; an Honorary daughter, Erin Wheeler; his mother and step-father, Betty Ann and Ralph Byford of Coffeeville; an Honorary father, Jimmy Barham of Grenada; two sisters, Rebecca Dunn of Grenada and Sherry Rodgers of Walthall; seven nieces, Cheyenne Collums, Rebekah Collums, Desiree Haley, Gracie Haley, Arieanna Haley, Kendall Haley, and Samantha Haley; and four nephews, Drake Griffin, T. J. Hipp, Nicolas Haley, and Emmanuel Haley.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Tharpe, Cody Tharpe, Justin Phelon, Bill Hugly, Warren Tunes, David Maycock Jr., Marshall Harris, and Danny White.
Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for J.B. Williams, 71, of Ruleville and formerly of Carrollton and Greenwood, are Monday at 11 a.m. at Clark-Williams Chapel. Burial will follow at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Carrollton.
Mr. Williams died May 26, 2008, at Ruleville Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1936, and was a city worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Moore of Greenwood; six sisters, Lois Shackelford, Mildred Green, Clattie Williams, and Willie Mae Ingram all of Grenada, Carrie Sandifer of Greenwood, and Oradell Beck of Seattle; and three brothers, Eddie Williams of Carrollton, Wade Williams of Leflore, and Wendell Beck of Greenwood.
