A Winona teen pleaded guilty to the murder of an Elliott man Tuesday in Winona Circuit Court.
According to Grenada Assistant District Attorney Chet Kirkham, Dillon Markel Seals, 18, entered a guilty plea in the murder of Roy Sanders.
Seals was arrested a year ago and charged with capital murder. He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of murder, which means he will not face the death penalty, Kirkham said.
Sanders’s body was found on the west side of Graysport Road in Montgomery County on Oct. 17. A passing motorist spotted the body.
After a three-day manhunt, Seals was found hiding in the attic of a structure in east Grenada. He was taken into custody by the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department.
Sanders’s wife, Beverly, was present at the sentencing, Kirkham said.
Another murder case has also apparently come to an end.
Anthony Doss, who was convicted of killing Grenadian Robert “Bert” Bell on May 6, 1991, has accepted a sentence of life in prison, according to court records.
