A rash of auto burglaries has Grenada police eyeing the Whitehaven neighborhood on the south end of town.
Police reports show that since Aug. 1, 19 cars have been burglarized, and several of the break-ins are clustered in the subdivision west of Sonic Drive-In.
Between Sept. 1 and Sept. 20, four cars were burglarized on Beverly Dr., Magnolia St., Ruralia Dr. and Windsor Dr. In most cases, the thieves took only purses, wallets and cash. The oddest item stolen was a World War II bayonet.
Thieves also hit a car in the Grocery Basket parking lot, not far from the subdivision, taking medication, a passport and credit cards.
