Kenneth Ray Lyon
Graveside services for Kenneth Ray Lyon, 76 of Grenada, were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in Union Cemetery in Tillatoba.
Mr. Lyon died Sept. 20, 2012.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1935, in Tillatoba, to the late Thomas and Margaret Tomlin Lyon.
Surviving Mr. Lyon are his daughter, Caroline Lyon; two sons, Terry Lyon of Grenada and Steve Lyon of Culver City, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Garner-Harper Funeral Home was in charge.
Mildred Weis Porter
Funeral services for Mildred Weis Porter, 98, of Greenwood, were at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Burial followed in Vaiden Cemetery.
Mrs. Porter died Sept. 20, 2012, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1914, and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lois Gaston Weis.
Mrs. Porter was a graduate of Vaiden High School and Draughon’s Business College. She was retired from the Social Security Administration in Greenwood.
In addition to her parents, preceding Mrs. Porter in death are an infant son, Robert Edward ‘Bobby” Porter; two sisters, Mary Weis Farmer and Ruth Weis Flournoy; infant brother, William Jacob Weis; and two nephews.
Mrs. Porter is survived by her sister, Katherine Melton of Vaiden; four nieces, Terraseta Hummel of Greenwood, Camille Brown of New York, Carol Ely of Timberlake, N.C., and Janet Flournoy of London, England; two nephews, Stuart Flournoy of Newport News, Va., and Joseph Melton of Ridgeland; seven great nieces, and two great nephews.

Funeral services for Leahman Spearman, 54, of Coffeeville, are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Mt. Grove M.B. Church in Coffeeville. Burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
Mr. Spearman died Sept. 20, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford of leukemia.
He was born on March 11, 1958, and was the son of the late Fred Spearman and Jimmylee Spearman.
Mr. Spearman was a farm worker and a member of United M.B. Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing the guitar.
In addition to his parents, preceding Mr. Spearman in death are two siblings, Fred Spearman and Maxine Gary.
Surviving Mr. Spearman are his wife, Veresie Spearman of Coffeeville; two sons, Leahman Levell Spearman of Coffeeville and Tyson LeShaun Spearman of Grenada; 12 siblings, Caldonia Spearman Kincaide, Leon Spearman, Hammack Spearman, and Lawrence Spearman, all of Coffeeville; Lutricia Spearman, Lucillie Spearman, Martha Turner, Auther Spearman, and George Spearman, all of Grenada, Pearlie Long of Detroit, Mich., Jesse May Spearman of Alabama, and James Spearman of Chicago.

Hope Constance Stroud
Funeral services for Hope Constance Stroud, 90, of Water Valley, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial followed in St. Peters Cemetery in Oxford.
Mrs. Stroud died Sept. 19, 2012, at Yalobusha County Hospital in Water Valley.
She was born on June 21, 1922, in Lafayette County to the late Doyle Luther and Connie Mansel Luther.
Mrs. Stroud was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was employed as an assembler with the Wurlitzer Piano Company.
In addition to her parents, preceding Mrs. Stroud in death are her husband, Dewitt Stroud; two daughters, Sylvia Bailey and Sarah Coleman.
Survivors include her son, David Tidwell of Oxford; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
