Bridge inspection and consideration of bids for a roofing project were among the topics covered during the Grenada County Board of Supervisors meeting Thursday.
District Four Supervisor Darrell Robinson proposed a motion to begin inspecting 47 of 99 bridges in Grenada County. According Carl Grubb with Willis Engineering, many bridges in the county have to be inspected each year because of their sufficiency ratings. Grubbs said he hoped Willis Engineering could begin the work by August and finish by February.
Robinson will also hire a part-time, seasonal employee to help with general maintenance. The motion was proposed by Robinson and seconded by District Five Supervisor Chad Gray.
Representatives from Tax Assessor David Melton’s office will soon fan out over the county in search of mobile homes from which they’ve gotten returned mail. According to Melton, sometimes people sell the homes, sometimes they’re repossessed and other times they move them out of state without notifying the tax accessor’s office. The board voted unanimously to reimburse Melton for mileage.
