Although they’re not in the market to buy, the Grenada County Board of Supervisors on Thursday took a close-up look at the industry’s latest ballot-scanning machine.
During their meeting, the supervisors witnessed a demonstration of the DS200 Precinct Scanner.
The sleek, sturdy-looking machine scans paper ballots and can provide real-time results to election central via a computer modem.
Representatives from Jackson-based Election Systems and Software demonstrated the machine to the supervisors as well as to staff from Circuit Clerk Linda Barnette’s office.
Election officials in neighboring counties think highly of the ballot-scanning machines.
