County supervisors working for better health care service
An Editorial

Grenada County’s supervisors are to be commended for their courage in considering the prospect of getting the county out of the hospital business and exploring other options for the future progress of health care in North Central Mississippi.
A majority of county taxpayers appear to believe area health care needs would be better served by formally joining Grenada Lake Medical Center with a strong regional or national health care organization. We whole-heartedly agree.
The supervisors have wisely considered the issue with painstaking care and due diligence. They have brought in top experts for advice and counsel in order to study the issue from a broad range of perspectives, all of which appear to be aimed at further improving medical care for our citizenry.
We have not necessarily agreed with them at every step of the process. For instance, we would probably prefer that the county seek an outright purchaser, but we do understand that there are certain advantages to a long term lease-only agreement.
We believe the supervisors are on the right track and deserve praise for their action thus far.
