Staff Report
The GrenadaStar is happy to welcome its new reporter, Galen Holley.
Holley, 36, grew up in Pontotoc County and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in English. He also holds an M.A. in theology from Washington Theological Union in Washington, D.C.
Holley’s wife of nine years, Angela, is a seventh grade teacher of language arts in DeSoto County.
His interests include cooking and reading. He’s a fan of contemporary authors like Cormac McCarthy and Rick Bragg, as well as of classic American authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway.
Holley is the former religion editor for the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo, where he worked for four and a half years.
“We are glad to have an experienced journalist like Galen on our staff,” said Publisher Joe Lee III, “and we look forward to his work as he covers the Grenada community.”
