Homeowners in the Geeslin Corner community will see their insurance bills go down after improvement of the community’s fire rating.
Geeslin Corner Volunteer Fire Department has upgraded its fire rating from 10 to an eight, according to Fire Chief Ricky Jones.
“Homeowners could see a 20 to 40 percent decrease in their insurance bills depending on what kind of house they have,” said Jones. “For a brick house, the decrease is 30 to 40 percent.”
Jones said that on a wood-frame house, the difference in premiums is 20 percent.
“For every $1,000, the owner of a wood-frame house would see a $200 reduction in their insurance,” said Jones.
