Jewel R. Floyd
   Jewel R. Floyd, 88, of Water Valley, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley.  
   Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, at National Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday at National Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Schmitz officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill.  
   Pallbearers will be Lance Floyd, Neil Floyd, Ben Floyd, Chris Floyd, Paul Schmitz and Robert Schmitz.
   Jewel was born on Jan. 9, 1923, in Carroll County to John Eddie Ricks and Mary Della McDonald Ricks. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Jewel was employed as a licensed practical nurse until her retirement.
   Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her parents, John Eddie and Della Ricks, and her husband, Robert L. Floyd.
   Survivors include two sons, Larry Floyd of Grenada and David Floyd of Water Valley; six grandchildren, Joshua Floyd, Jonathon Floyd, Lance Floyd and his wife, Dee, Neil Floyd, Ben Floyd and Chris Floyd; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Floyd, Rebecca Floyd, Monica Floyd, Jackson Floyd, and Bailey Claire Floyd.
   National Funeral Home is in charge.

James Benton Gillis

   James Benton “Jim” Gillis, 59, of Grenada, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at his home. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at National Funeral Home in Grenada.  Graveside services are at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona with Dr. Clarence Cooper officiating.  
   Jim was born on Nov. 30, 1952, in Bolivar County to Charles Elisah Gillis and Ollie Ruth Springer Gillis Cross. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a Vietnam era veteran. Jim was a self-employed plumber for many years.
   Mr. Gillis was preceded in death by his father, Charles Gillis.
   Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Patricia Jan Gillis of Grenada; two daughters, Amanda Busby Ables of Vaiden and Tanya Gillis Coaten of Grenada; one son, Dennis Allen Busby of Grenada; his mother, Ruth Gillis of Grenada; three brothers, Steve Gillis of Arizona, Allen Gillis of Grenada and Don Gillis of Texas; and six grandchildren, Lakin Ables, Garrett Ables, John D. Staten, Gregory Staten, Taggert Coaten and Jada Coaten.
   National Funeral Home is in charge.
