Mary Gerard

COLUMBUS - Mary Gerard, 74, died Saturday at Vineyard Court Nursing Center.

Ms Gerard was a retired cook. She was a member of St. Andrews Church in Grenada where she was an usher.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at M U Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ms Gerard is survived by a son, Joe Gerard of Columbus; two brothers, Claude Gerard and Snowden Gerard, both of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Emma L. Clark of Grenada; and two grandchildren.

Lee-Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rita F. Orsbon

CALHOUN CITY - Rita Faye Simpson Orsbon, 31, of Big Creek, died Sunday at Calhoun Health Services.

Mrs. Orsbon was a homemaker. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Martin and Lonnie Waller officiating. Burial will be in Clear Springs Cemetery in Grenada.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Orsbon is survived by her husband, Tim Orsbon of Big Creek; a step-daughter, Jennifer Potts of Derma; her parents, John and Glenda Simpson of Coffeeville; three brothers, Johnny Simpson, Leonard Simpson, both of Coffeeville and Gene Simpson of Greenwood; two sisters, Mary Nell Lourimore of Coffeeville and Nita Clair of Houlka; four grandchildren.

Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John A. Stevens

John Ashley Stevens, 75, of Grenada, formerly of Forest, died Saturday at his residence.

Mr. Stevens was a retired banker with Magnolia Federal Savings Bank where he was executive vice president. He was a member of First Baptist Church, president of Chamber of Commerce, past district governor of the Boys Scouts of America, a lieutenant for former governor Bill Waller and a United States World War II Navy veteran.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. today at Grenada First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Williams and the Rev. Huey Dedmon officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, Lois Harmon Stevens of Grenada; a son, John Ashley Stevens Jr. of Oxford; a sister, Ann Stevens Graham of Brandon; and three grandchildren, John Ashley Stevens III, Elizabeth Hayes Stevens, both of Madison and Beaty Elizabeth McKnight of Oxford.

Garner-Harper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
