Vallie B. Byars

CHARLESTON - Vallie B. Byars, 67, of Charleston, died Wednesday at Tallahatchie General Hospital.

Mrs. Byars was a homemaker. She was a member of Phillip Church of God of Prophecy.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Womble Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Paynes.

Mrs. Byars was preceded in death by a daughter, Vallie LaShan Byars; and her parents, William Davis Brown and Versie Henson Brown.

She is survived by two sons, Harry Lenn Powell and Harvey Byars, both of Charleston; a daughter, LaVonia Byars of Charleston; a brother, Jack Brown of Ashland, Ala.; a sister, Dora Mae Wolfe of Charleston; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Willie R. Brown

BATESVILLE - Willie Ray Brown, 47, of Oakland, died Sunday at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

Mr. Brown was an assistant manager for AutoZone. He was a deacon and member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Delois Brown of Oakland; a son, Tommy Brown of Charleston; four daughters, Latanya Brown, Williet Brown, Felicia Scott, all of Oakland and Darmishia Scott of Jackson; his mother, Rubie Brown of Oakland; eight brothers, Lloyd Garner, Daniel Garner, both of Oakland, Lee Garner of Batesville, James Garner of Alabama, Harvey Garner, Christopher Garner, both of Memphis, Tenn., Samuel Garner and Roy Garner, both of California; and 12 sisters, Fancine Exon of Little Rock, Ark., Kay Suggs of West Memphis, Ark., Vivian Jenkins of Oakland, Mary Brock of Water Valley, Shirley Crawford of Jackson, Alline Hutchinson, Rose M. Goolsby, both of Oxford, Ninnie Chapman of Batesville, Arnita Matthews of St. Louis, Lizzie Burke, Fannie Garner and Jessie Gaines, all of Memphis, Tenn.

Alline Jackson

Alline Jackson, 81, of Bruce, died February 16 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

Mrs. Jackson was a motel manager. She was a member of Jackson Chapel Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, choir president, and president of Missionary Society.

Mrs. Jackson also served as chair person of the Mother's Day Program Committee, member of the Heroines of Jericho Evergreen Court No. 19 and past Mother Mary for the Palace of Children.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Percy McCord officiating. Burial will be in Pittsboro Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband; a son; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Flemings.

She is survived by seven daughters, Mary Joe Jackson, Ruby Jackson, Beneatha Jackson, Debra Gates, Sherry Armstrong, all of Bruce, Barbara Riley of Portland, Ore and Lolitta Armstrong of Brandon; four sons, Lee Edward Jackson, Richard Jackson, both of Bruce, John Wesley Jackson of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Donald Jackson of Toledo, Ohio; a brother, Harry McGough of Toledo, Ohio; 39 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Dave Noel

Dave Noel, 76, of Oakland, a native of Tallahatchie County, died Monday at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

Mr. Noel was a farmer and a Baptist.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oliver Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Willis officiating. Burial will be in Oliver Grove Cemetery in Oakland.

Tommy Reed

Tommy Reed Jr., 66, of Milwaukee, Wis., formerly of Tippo, died February 13 at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Frankie Reed officiating. Burial will be in True Bibleway Cemetery.

Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Myrtis L. Reed of Milwaukee, Wis.; four sons, Eddie Reed of Wichita, Kan., Tommy Reed Sr., Willie Reed and Lacy Reed, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; four daughters, Nicole Johnson, Carolyn Reed, both of Milwaukee, Wis., Thelma Turner of Wichita, Kan. and Mary A. Willis of Charleston; a brother, Willie C. Reed of Freeport, Ill.; and three sisters, Lovie Reed, Ester Reed, both of Tippo and Ollie S. Cannon of Wichita, Kan.

Glenda E. Tippett

Glenda Eskridge Tippett, 28, of Duck Hill, died February 16 at her residence.

Mrs. Tippett was a factory worker. She was also a Baptist.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Butts officiating. Burial will be in St John Cemetery in Duck Hill.

Mrs. Tippett is survived by her husband, Cedric Tippett of Duck Hill; two sons, Quantez Eskridge and Gary B. Robinson Jr.; her parents, John William and Margaret Eskridge of Duck Hill; two brothers, John Eskridge Jr. of Paintsville, Ky. And Calvin Bernard Eskridge of Duck Hill; a sister, Barbara Ann Eskridge of Duck Hill; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Woods of Duck Hill and Goldie Burt Sr. of Duck Hill; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cora Tolbert

Cora 'Sug' Tolbert, 92, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Grenada, died February 13 in Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Tolbert was a homemaker. She was also a Baptist.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brock officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Ben Williams.

She is survived by two brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Tolbert and C.P. Tolbert, both of Oakland; two sisters-in-law, Eva Nevells of Memphis, Tenn. and Josephine Boyd of Oakland; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Maggie Williamson

Maggie Williamson, of Grenada, died today at Grenada Lake Medical Center.
