    A number of judgments, several on armed robberies, were handed down last week during Grenada County Circuit Court’s January term.
    According to court records:
  •  Sam Green was convicted of armed robbery. Green is sentenced to serve 25 years with MDOC.
  • James Felton Bell was convicted of the sale of cocaine. Bell is ordered to serve 30 years with MDOC.
  • Randy Allen Cox was convicted for the charges of Count I: possession of methamphetamine, Count II: possession of precursor chemicals, and Count III: manufacture of methamphetamine. Cox is ordered to serve eight years with MDOC to run concurrently with the sentence imposed in Count II for Count I.
     For Count II, he is to serve 23 years with MDOC. Upon completion of 13 years, Cox is to be released to serve supervised probation for 10 years, and is fined $5,000, $5,000 suspended.
     For count III, Cox is ordered to serve 13 years to run concurrent with Count II, and fined $5,000, $5,000 suspended. .
  • Ladarius Woodall, aka Snoop, was convicted of armed robbery. Woodall is ordered to serve 25 years with MDOC, with 10 years suspended after he serves five years for a total of 15 years. Upon release, he is to serve five years of supervised probation.
    In a separate case, Woodall was convicted of a second  charge of armed robbery. He is to serve 15 years with MDOC.
Woodall will serve a total of 30 years with MDOC for both convictions.
  • Colon Jones was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is ordered to serve 10 years with MDOC. Upon completion of one day, Jones is to serve nine years and 364 days of supervised probation.
    All defendants were also ordered to pay all fines, court costs and assessments.

yeah....racism is a good way for people to pass blame on food stamps, court cases, welfare, but hey......balck or white....doesn't matter.....people who are on food stamps and welfare don't need public assistance, what they need to do is stop having kids, get a decent job and work for everything you want, don't go to all the crooked banks or payday "Mafia" loan places, work, save, eat at home and if people would stop worrying about their own personal finances and if jimbo next dorr or demetrius next door is trying, yet struggling, THE COMMUNITY! not the federal or state governments, should help. want to have a trully blessed experience, help out at the soup kitchen, put personal funding into shelters, not governement, but that would be asking alot of people not to be selfish. But I guess if people weren't Selfish, Christ would not have said, "For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Racism is ignorance that exist among blacks and whites in this town. I have observed a great deal of racism from people who portray themselves as Christians. I don't know what God you beleive in and serve. Black,white, Jew, or whoever will never make into to Heaven with this foolishness! GET RIGHT OR GET LEFT!!!

To the comment saying all blacks want is a handout, I take it you've never visited the DHS offices here in town. I also take it you've never been to the Medicaid office. OR the Social Security office. Or been in a grocery store around the first of the month. Because if you HAD, you would see there's just as many whites getting TANF checks, Medicaid, disability (some who lie to get it), and a whole lot of lily-white hands swiping those yellow cards to get food every month. As a previous comment stated, this town will never progress because of the ignorance that runs rampant through it--and that ignorance knows no race, religion, or economic status. And to ease anyone's curiosity, I am a white female. And I'm sick of blatant racism from both sides of the fence.

Personally I would like to see some of the murders solved that have happen over the last 20yrs. Running tags and drug arrest seems to be the priority in Grenada.

To Use to be a NAtive: that swimming pool by the library is for anyone who PAYS for it!!!! no matter the color of your skin!!! No this is where the problem comes in... to the blacks do not think they should have to pay for anything???? why is this??? you want to be equal then step up to the plate and quit looking for a handout!!! this world owes you NOTHING!!!! if you want to go to the pool by the library then pay yo money!!!!

It is and allways will be about race in Grenada. Thats a lie about no matter if you are black or white it does. Dont get caught down by double quick after dark.... for example they still have a swimming pool that blacks cant go to over by the library.

So, what's the complaint "Duke"? That the alleged "white male" got the book thrown at him while someone you assume is of another race didn't (or vice versa)?? Me personally, of it's one less dopehead off of the streets then kudos to the courts. BUT, I also have seen unfairness as it pertains to drugs and race, so justice needs to be a little more blinded. Good luck with that in a town where money talks and the affluent walk.

Duke: How do you know Mr. Bell isn't also a white man?? And how do you know that Mr. Bell doesn't have prior convictions that resulted in a heftier sentence?? God, people really need to do research before they start going off on the whole "It's because of their race" bullcrap. And we wonder why this town will never progress-look what kind of people inhabit it.

Well, it is not hard to figure out the races of these felons. I will take a guess and say that Mr. Cox is a White male, how can I tell, well, by the sentence that he got compared to the sentence that Mr.Bell got.
