Annie M. Collins
    Funeral services for Annie M. Collins, 89, of Grenada, were Monday at Jones Chapel M. B. Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
    Mrs. Collins died Nov. 17, 2009, at Grenada Living Center.
    She was born Oct. 7, 1920.
    Eddie Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robbie C. Greene
    Funeral services for Robbie C. Greene, 77, of Grenada, were Monday at 10 a.m. at Grenada Church of God. Interment followed at North Shady Grove Cemetery.
    Miss Greene died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Grace Health and Rehab.
    She was born April 24, 1932, in Tallahatchie County, to the late Joel and Lenora Dollahite Kendall.
    Miss Greene was a homemaker and a member of Grenada Church of God.
    She is survived by two daughters, Debra Gail Lindsey of Cascilla and Bonnie Wolfe of Batesville; two sons, Billy Joe Allbritton and Dody Allbritton, both of Grenada; one sister, Katherine Arnold of Grenada; one half-sister, Beverly Jean; one brother, Dewitt Kendall of Texas; and four half-brothers, David Kendall, Cecil Wayne Kendall, Tommy Kendall, and Johnny Kendall; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Garner-Harper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sharon Ann Harvey
    Funeral services for Sharon Ann Harvey, 60, of Grenada, were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Garner-Harper Funeral Home. Burial followed in New Salem Cemetery in Tippah County.
    Mrs. Harvey died Nov. 18, 2009, at her residence.
    She was born on Dec. 12, 1948, in Clarksdale, to the late Jesse Marion and Mary Ethel Rowland Young.
    Mrs. Harvey was a dedicated homemaker and member of Faith Fellowship Church.
    In addition to her parents, preceding Mrs. Harvey in death are four brothers, Conrad “Connie” Young, Wilfred “Bill” Young, Larry Young, and John Young.
    Surviving Mrs. Harvey are survived her husband, Don Harvey of Grenada; three daughters, Kim McCool of Ruleville, Melissa Coleman of Tupelo, and Jeannie Stafford of Grenada; a son, Jason Oliver of Brookhaven; six sisters, Teresa Strain of Atlanta, Brenda Guy of Waco, Texas, Sue Ferguson of Grenada, Lorene Williams of Mansfield, Ark., Merle McKay of Jay, Okla., and Eleanor Yates of Jackson, Miss.; three brothers, Fred Young of Clarksdale, Don Young of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Ottis Young of Shelbyville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
    Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Leona Malone
    Funeral services for Annie Leona Malone, 82, of McCarley, were Monday at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Burial followed at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery near Sturgis.
    Mrs. Malone died Nov. 21, 2009, at Tyler Holmes Hospital in Winona of heart failure.
    Survivors include two sisters, Lela Mae Franklin and Pearl Saxon, both of Pontotoc; and a niece, Kay Emmons of Winona.
    Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
    Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Holman Murphey
    Funeral services for Betty Holman Murphey, 69, of Tippo, were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tippo Methodist Church. Burial followed in Tippo Cemetery.
    Mrs. Murphey died Nov. 18, 2009.
    She was a homemaker.
    Preceding Mrs. Murphey in death is her husband, Joe Murphey.
    Surviving Mrs. Murphey are two daughters, Susan Steen of Holcomb and Margaret Lindesy of Severville, Tenn.; two sons, Jody Murphey of Tippo and David McCluskey of Greenwood; a brother Willard “Sonny” Holman Jr. of Savanna, Tenn.; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
    Newsom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Maude Evelyn Savage
    Funeral services for Maude Evelyn Savage, 90, of Oxford, formerly of Grenada, were Sunday at National Funeral Home in Grenada. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
    Mrs. Savage died Nov. 19, 2009, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford.
    She was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Cascilla, to Frank and Birkie Mitchell.
    Mrs. Savage was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was employed as an inspector at Pennaco Hosiery Mill until her retirement.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie D. Savage; a son, Rex Savage; three brothers and three sisters.
    Survivors include her daughter, Donna Owens of Oxford; a son, Bill Savage of Grenada; a brother, Binford Mitchell of Grenada; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
    National Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Martha Ellen Stoker
    Martha Ellen Stoker, 47, of Grenada, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in Holcomb. A private family funeral service was held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Oddfellows Cemetery. Burial followed in Oddfellows Cemetery in Grenada.
    Martha was born on July 27, 1962, in Grenada to Richard and Mary Leigh Stoker.     She was a Baptist. Martha was employed as a caregiver.
    Martha was preceded in death by a son, Joshua; her father, Richard J. Stoker Jr; maternal grandparents, Sam and Bittie Garner; and her paternal grandparents, R. J. and Norene Stoker.
    Survivors include her mother, Mary Leigh Stoker of Grenada; two sisters, Libby Ferguson of Grenada and Lynn Foreman of Hattiesburg; and one brother, Ricky Stoker of Grenada.
    Dr. Cecil A. Fayard Jr. officiated the services.
    Memorials may be made to the Elliott Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 595, Elliott, MS 38926-0595 or to Gideon’s International Memorial Bible Chairman, P. O. Box 36, Grenada, MS 38902-0036.

George H. Thornton
    Mr. George H. Thornton, 87, of Grenada, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Grenada Living Center. He was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Newton, Miss., to Howell Stanley and Gladys Henton Thornton.
    Mr. Thornton was an Air Force Veteran having served in World War II. He served 11 years on the Grenada City Council and 31 years with U.S. AgriChemical. He attended East Central Community College and received his Bachelor degree from Mississippi State University. Mr. Thornton was a member of First Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 22, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Howell Stanley and Gladys Henton Thornton; two sisters, Beth Bryan and Sarah Reeves; and one brother, Stanley Thornton.
    Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife, Sarah Hardy Thornton; a daughter, Peggy Ann Thornton Corey of Southaven; a son, George Robert Thornton of Douglasville, Ga.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
