Church announcements should be submitted in writing by noon on Tuesday for publication on the Friday Devotional Page. A name and telephone number must accompany all information to be published.
GrenadaStar will publish standard obituaries free of charge. A standard obit will include name, age, hometown, date of death, place of death, funeral and burial information (time and place), visitation, occupation (examples: retired business owner or retired nurse), personal information (education, church and civic affiliation) spouse's name, children, step-children and hometown, brothers, sisters and hometown) to half brothers and sisters), number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, veteran's status (with flag), memorials, and photo at no charge. Standard obituaries must be submitted by a funeral home. Photos are encouraged. Free obituaries must comply with newspaper styles.
Custom Paid Obituaries
Family members are welcome to submit, through the funeral home in charge of the services, a custom obituary with additional, more detailed information - including the names of grandchildren, in-laws, special friends, pallbearers and ministers - for a charge of 15 cents per word for the entire obituary. Custom obituaries must be submitted electronically, either via disc or e-mail to: News@GrenadaStar.com. Photos are published at no charge.
Obituaries may be submitted every day for posting on our website. When a full obituary is not available, either a death of a funeral notice is published.
