Citizens who have been ticketed or involved in an accident may not realize their driver’s license could be suspended, according to a local official.
Grenada Municipal Court Administrator Marilyn McKinley said that many cases are coming across her desk where people don’t realize their license has been suspended.
Mississippi Code Section 63-15-3(j) requires a driver to have proof of liability insurance in a motor vehicle at all times.
Those who failed to produce proof of liability insurance during an accident must mail their proof of insurance to the MDPS soon after their violation.
“We’re trying to prevent suspension of driver’s licenses, to keep citizens well informed  and to take care of the citizens of Grenada County,” said McKinley.
Some citizens don’t realize that if they got stopped and failed to produce proof of liability insurance, and were ticketed, or were involved in an accident and failed to produce insurance - even if they simply couldn’t find it  - their license could be suspended, McKinley said.
