Peggy Morehead Alford
   Funeral services for Peggy Morehead Alford, 54, of Grenada, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Scotland Cemetery in Winona.  
   Mrs. Alford died Aug. 16, 2014 of  cancer at her residence.  
   She was born on June 26, 1960, in Jackson, to Kathryn Carter Morehead of Pearl and the late Thurman Clayton Morehead.  
   Mrs. Alford was a former independent contractor with the GrenadaStar newspaper.  
   In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronny Morehead.
   In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Kathy Blair and Laura Pyron of Grenada; a son, Joseph Pyron of Grenada; three sisters, Judy Strickland of Pearl, Pandra Pyron of Grenada, and Sherry Kegley of Salem, Va.; two brothers, Dan C. Morehead and Bobby Morehead of Canton; and one granddaughter, Kayla Greer of Grenada.

Albert Ammons
   Funeral services for Albert Ammons, 71, of Vaiden, are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Roberts & Sons Mortuary in Winona. Burial will follow at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery in Vaiden.
   Visitation is Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
   Mr. Ammons died Aug. 15, 2014, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
   He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Ammons; two daughters, Anita A. Ammons-Childress and Patricia L Ammons; five sisters, Mary Owens, Betty Woods, Irene Ammons, Katie Hargrove and Lucille Brown; a half-brother, Wayne Williams; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Timothy A. Christian
   Timothy A. Christian, 57, of Coffeeville, died Aug. 11, 2014.
   He was born on Feb. 11, 1957, to the late Harold and Muriel Christian.
   Mr. Christian loved to hunt and fish. His passion was driving an 18-wheeler, which he had done most of his adult life.
   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur E. Christian.
   Mr. Christian is survived by five children, Nicholas Christian, Amber, Jason, Desserie and Eric; a sister, Deborah Realmuto; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann Ellett
   Funeral services for Mary Ann Ellett, 74, of Charleston, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Newsom Funeral Home. Burial followed in Union Cemetery.
   Mrs. Ellett died Aug. 17, 2014, in Charleston.
   She was a member of Tillatoba Baptist Church and a retired employee of Vend-A-Snack of Clarksdale.
   Mrs. Ellett was preceded in death by her husband, Jamie Earl Ellett Jr.; a son, David Earl Ellett; and two brothers, Graham Bonner Pettit and Kenneth Haley Pettit.
   Survivors include two daughters, Regina Morgan of Batesville and Connie Simmons of Oakland; two sisters, Carolyn Little of Cleveland and Martha Kyle of Charleston; two brothers, Wayne  Pettit of Chaptico, Md., and W.E. Pettit Jr. of Jackson; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   Memorials may be made to Union Cemetery Fund.
   Newsom Funeral Home was in charge.

Gary H. Kellum
   Funeral services for Gary H. Kellum, 66, of Tupelo, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Houston, Miss.
   Mr. Kellum died Aug. 17, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
   He was born on July 8, 1948, in Houston, to the late Howard and Doris Kellum.
   Mr. Kellum was a member of the I Am Ministries in Crowder, Miss. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. Before his illness, he was a truck driver for Ashley Furniture.
   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Kellum.
   He is survived by his daughter, Tracy K. Moore of Batesville; a son, Anthony Scott Kellum of Grenada; a sister, Barbara Melton of Houston; a brother, Charles Kellum of Grenada; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
   Wells Funeral Home was in charge.

John Clark Molpus
   A celebration of life for John Clark Molpus, 31, was held Friday, Aug. 15, at Grace Crossing Church in Collierville, Tenn.
   Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Senator James Molpus and Juanice Herr and Leonard Herr.
   He is survived by his father and mother, John and Becky Molpus; grandparents, Jean and Roy Harbin; a sister, Karen Molpus Aiken; a niece, Lillian Aiken; a nephew, Hank Aiken; and his aunts and uncles, Wanda and Chad Shaw, Fred and Sandy Molpus, Robert and Beth Molpus and Danny Sheppard.

Norma Gray Turner Myers
   Norma Gray Turner Myers, 83, of Grenada, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, the seventeenth of August, 2014. She was a devout and faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Grenada and so enjoyed her fellowship with its members and Christian friends.
   Norma’s high school graduating class, dubbed the “49ers,” has held traditional yearly reunions and her attendance has always been one of her greatest joys.
   Norma was a bookkeeper for various C.P.A.s and business entities in Grenada. Leisure activities enjoyed by Norma included homemaking and oil painting.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, Sebron Gray and Helen Haley Turner; her husband, Robert Carl Myers; brother, Haley Turner; sisters, Dorothy Biddy, Hazel Caldwell, Claudine Griffis, and Naomi Swetland; and Grandson Nathan Myers.
   Survivors include sons, Gary (Garner Jo) Myers of Holcomb and Jeff (Angela) Myers of Blue Springs, Miss.; grandson, Evan (Kerrie) Myers of Brandon; granddaughters, Lindsay (Erick) Haugen of Desoto, Iowa, Carli Myers of Holcomb, and Audra Myers of Blue Springs; great-grandsons, Noah Haugen of Desoto, Iowa, and Cade Myers of Brandon; great-granddaughter, Lexie Myers of Brandon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
   The family sends special thanks to the staff and the many good friends she made during her stay at Providence Assisted Living Center in Grenada, Dr. Mary-Anne Tarsi, Community Hospice, and the staff at Grenada Living Center for the care and concern given to her while there.
   A visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Garner-Harper Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m., immediately followed by funeral services in Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel. Internment followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grenada.
   Memorials may be made to the donor’s charities of choice.

Gailey Stokes Neal
   Funeral services for Gailey Stokes Neal, 61, of Nesbit, formerly of Coffeeville, are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Mt. Moriah Association Building in Coffeeville. Burial will follow in Quest Cemetery in Oakland.
   Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
   Mrs. Neal died Aug. 16, 2014, at Baptist Desoto Hospital.
   She was born on Jan. 3, 1953.
   Mrs. Neal worked in dietary services at the Coffeeville School system.

Opaline Buchanan Watson
   Opaline Buchanan Watson, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at her residence. She was born on May 17, 1928, in Itawamba County to the late Louis Buchanan and Hessie Umphress Buchanan. She was retired from the Irwin B. Schwabe Company where she worked as a quality control director. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grenada.
   Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19,  at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial was in New Albany City Cemetery.
   She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Jerol) Vaughn of Grenada; two grandchildren, Melanie (David) Balducci and Kristy (Rod) Marter; five great-grandchildren, Chloe Balducci, Cassidy Balducci, Gemma Balducci, Grason Marter, and Claire Marter; and a sister, Ethylene Privett of Grenada.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David Morton Watson, and a brother, Johnnie Buchanan.
   Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
