Little August Hardiman was a young lady of few words Wednesday.
The first day of kindergarten can be a daunting experience, so she stuck to the basics.
“I like to color, and my favorite colors are pink, blue, red and purple,” said Hardiman, 5, as she got accustomed to her surroundings in Meagan Ross’s classroom at Grenada Lower Elementary School.
Wednesday was meet the teacher day, and the classroom buzzed with children and their parents, come to say “hi” to Ross and to get a lay of the land.
As a first-year teacher, this was uncharted territory for Ross, too.
“I’m excited to see how much they’ll grow and change,” said Ross. “This is where it all starts.”
Across the district, students got their first look at their new classrooms and teachers Wednesday. They had a chance to catch up with old friends and to get back in the swing of things before classes started Thursday.
