The Grenada Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday honored volunteers who have helped keep the visitors’ center at the lake open during lean times.
Larcener Williams, Elizabeth Cranford, Bobby Joe Lee, Ray Sellers and Mike Wilson were the guests of honor at Carmella’s as chamber members thanked them for the all-important gift of their time and people skills.
The group was part of 14 who signed up last year to staff the center after the Corps announced in November that it was in danger of having to close the visitors’ center due to budgetary cutbacks.
Smiles and laughter were passed around like the creamy spinach dip. Entrees of lasagna, spaghetti and all sorts of Italian delicacies followed.
The volunteers said they wanted to give back to the community.
