Grenada County sheriff’s deputies have made a second arrest in connection with a deadly shooting that took place Wednesday.
According to Sheriff Alton Strider, deputies arrested a man he identified as Treymore Jones, 22, at his home on Sweethome Road.
Deputies made the arrest mid-morning Thursday, Strider said.
Jones is charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, Strider said.
“I can’t share all the details of the investigation, but one lead led to another, and we were able to apprehend the suspect,” said Strider.
According to Strider, Jones is a second suspect in a shooting that claimed the life of 84-year-old Frances Nail, of Grenada.
Wednesday deputies arrested Jamarcus Meeks, 24, at an undisclosed location. Meeks is also charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Injured in the shooting were Zachary Flowers, 25, and William Nail, 67.
The three were shot while inside a house on the 200 block of Lamb Road.
“As of (Friday) morning, we haven’t heard an update on Flowers’s condition,” Strider said.
Flowers was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where he was listed in critical condition, and William Nail was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
According to Strider, Nail was home on Friday.
Deputies, working with U.S. marshals, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi State Crime Lab, the Grenada Police Department and District Attorney Doug Evans, arrested both Jones and Meeks as part of an ongoing investigation, the sheriff said.
Strider would not speculate as to a motive, nor would he say whether authorities were looking for more suspects, adding only that the investigation is ongoing.
