Most people that have been part of the annual Grenada Invitational may not want to admit it but they were concerned about its future.
Recent years have seen number of participants decreasing. That seems to have changed this year.
As of early this week, there have been close to 100 players sign up for this year’s event. This weekend’s two-day tournament will be the 56th annual event in the storied tournament. The field also has some outstanding players coming to Grenada to play the Perry Creek Golf Course.
The Par 71, 6,800-yard course has been let dry out in hopes of making the course play faster. Doing that has allowed the rough to get higher which could definitely impact the scoring this weekend.
“It should be a challenging weekend of golf,” Brent Thomas said. “We are excited about the field this year with more participants than in recent years.”
