The director of the Grenada Airportsays that the service contract with a Memphis-based  provider is worth the cost, even though some members of the city council questioned the expenditure.
At Monday’s meeting Ward One Councilman Warren B. Cox Sr. asked about the payment of $900 per month to Remote Systems Integration.
According to airport director Garrett Pollan, Tom Nichols is the owner of the company, which services the airport’s electronic guidance systems. RSI also services FedEx aircraft at the Memphis International Airport, Pollan said.
“I understand that the system has been down for almost a year,” said Cox. “My question is, why do we pay a service fee for a system that doesn’t work? If he can’t fix it, then we find somebody else, or, at least, withhold payment.”
Other council members, including Ward Seven Councilman Ronnie Merriman, and Ward Three
Councilman Lewis Johnson, quizzed Pollan about the feasibility of the service plan.
