Someone brutally shot a defenseless horse at an animal sanctuary in Duck Hill, and the creature’s caregivers are offering a reward leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
Dolly Stanley, director of Hope Animal Sanctuary, is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot Everette, the horse.
Stanley and her staff discovered the wounded animal in the early morning hours of July 4.
The horse had been shot once in the muzzle, and appeared to be in excruciating pain, Stanley said.
Veterinarian Dr. Tom Abernethy treated Evertee, but he couldn’t remove the bullet.
