While football teams are going through off-season workouts in preparation, there is a group of players that actually take to the practice field for the first time Monday afternoon.
The Kirk Academy softball teams opens preseason workouts for the upcoming season at Raiderette Field. Coach Jeremy Grantham begins his third season as head coach of the Raiderettes.
Grantham has a tough chore this fall. He has arguably the youngest team in the state. Of the 16 players on the KA roster, seven of them are sixth and seventh graders. The 2014-15 Raiderettes have just two seniors and no juniors.
Kirk opens the season July 26 taking part in a tournament at Winona Christian School.
