With the Fourth of July holiday, there comes postseason youth baseball tournaments across the state.
Both the Grenada Youth League and Grenada Parks and Recreation will have all star teams taking part in North State Dizzy Dean Tournaments.
The tournament begins Thursday in Batesville. A total of 10 teams are scheduled to take part in the event.
Grenada Youth League begins play at 1 p.m. Thursday against the Pontotoc Nationals. A win sends them into the second round at 5:30 p.m. Friday. A loss forces them to play at 7 p.m. that same night.
Teams taking part in the event include Hernando Southaven, Calhoun County, J.P. Hudson of Batesville, Horn Lake, Saltillo, Pontotoc Americans, and Magnolia Youth.
A total of 16 teams will gather in Winona for this age division.
The Grenada Recreation All-Stars face Hernando in an opening contest. Grenada Youth League faces Horn Lake to open the tournament.
Other opening round games are J.P. Hudson-Senatobia National; Mathiston-Southaven National; Senatobia American-Calhoun County; Ackerman-Tate County; Marshall County-Greenwood; and Southaven American-Winona.
There will be 17 teams gathering in Batesville for the North State.
Grenada Youth faces J.P. Hudson Wednesday at 2 p.m. Grenada Recreation takes on Southaven at 11:30 a.m.
Other teams in the tournament include Starkville, Fulton, Oxford, Tate County, Saltillo, Horn Lake, Columbus, Caledonia, Pontotoc, Hernando, Louisville, Greenwood, and Mathiston.
There will be nine teams taking part in the tournament, hosted by Winona.
Grenada Youth and Grenada Recreation are matched up in the opening round.
Other teams in the tournament include Greenwood, Hernando, Southaven National, Winona, Southaven American, and J.P. Hudson.
There will be 10 teams in Batesville beginning Thursday.
Grenada Youth League faces Tate County at 11:30 a.m., July 10. Other teams in the tournament include Greenwood, Batesville All-Stars, Hernando Nationals, Hernando American, Southaven, Marshall County, Horn Lake, and Pontotoc.
