Shirley Ruth Hood
   Shirley Ruth Hood, 79, of Grenada, loving mother and grandmother, passed away June 11, 2014, at Grace Health and Rehab in Grenada. Shirley was born April 7, 1935, in Stewart, to Robert Lee and Vivian Johnson Dunlap. Shirley was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Grenada.
   Funeral Services will be held at Enon Baptist Church in Grenada on June 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Robert Pittman, Larry Vance, Kenny Vance, Jimmy Hayward, Mark Wolfe, and Lee Worsham. Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
   Survivors include a son, John (Lisa) Hood of Grenada; a daughter, Diane Hood Worsham of Grenada; a sister, Anna Louise Pounds of Bellfontaine, Miss.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  
   Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Hood; a companion, James Hayward; a daughter, Cynthia Kay Marter; a brother, Robert Wiley Dunlap; and a sister, Allene Vance.
   Garner-Harper Funeral Home in Grenada is in charge.

Eddie Elvis Melton
   Funeral services for Eddie Elvis Melton, 90, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Hebron Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Gardens.
   Visitation is Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church.
   Mr. Melton died June 12, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North, Mississippi in Oxford.
   He was born on Feb. 18, 1924, and was the son of the late Willie Washington Melton and Lelia Elizabeth Dunn Melton of Holcomb.
   Mr. Melton was self- employed as a carpenter. He was a member of  the Red Grass Hunting Club for 60 years and was the last participating charter member. Mr. Melton was also a  member of Hebron Baptist Church for the past 70 years.
   He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Juanita Armour Melton of Grenada; two daughters, Cheryl (Buzz) Revell and Janice (William) Gore both of Grenada; two sons, John Elvis (Vicky) Melton of Oxford and Donald Glen (Linda) Melton of Gulfport; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
   Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
