The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for some good men and women to become state troopers.
Starting in November, the MHP will offer trooper school in Pearl to prepare a new wave of law enforcement officers.
The highway patrol is accepting applications and hopes to graduate at least 60 new troopers in the spring of 2015.
Gov. Phil Bryant last month signed into law a bill that would spend $6.9 million in training the troopers.
“We’re very shorthanded all over the state, and 120 troopers are eligible to retire right now,” said Trooper Tony Dunn, spokesperson for MHP Troop D in Greenwood.
