Thunder on Water is gearing up for another record-setting year, and organizers say the list of attractions is better than ever.
The Lake City will host the annual event June 11-15, and volunteer Wanda Roche said that a carnival, food vendors and fireworks are just some of this year’s attractions.
“I think that we’re growing each year and this should be no exception,” said Roche.
First up will be family night at the carnival, June 11, starting at 6 p.m.
Food vendors, rides, inflatables and all sorts of fun are on the agenda, Roche said.
Grenada’s beauties will strut their stuff at a pageant at the Mattox Center on Hwy. 51 South on June 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Friday the 13th won’t be unlucky for spectators as they’ll be wowed by a $25,000 fireworks show at dark.
“The accompanying music for the fireworks show will be broadcast on Star 92.3 radio station, and will include a mixture of patriotic music along with old favorites and even some contemporary pop music,” said volunteer Chris Savage.
June 14 brings the kids’ fishing rodeo, a crappie tournament, a tractor pull and a car and truck show.
The crappie tournament will begin at 5 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. The entry fee is $50, plus an additional $10 for the big fish competition. The combined weight of the seven biggest fish will win the prize.
