Jane Gant Ezell
   Funeral services for Jane Gant Ezell, 89, of Grenada, were at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County.
   Visitation was Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at National Funeral Home.
   Ms. Ezell died April 29, 2014, at UMMC in Grenada.
   She was born on June 2, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Eddie Gant and Maude White Gant of  Carroll County. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ezell Piner; three brothers and seven sisters.
   Ms. Ezell was retired from Heatcraft  as an Inspector. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Carroll County.
   She is survived by her son-in-law, Holly A. Piner of Duck Hill; a sister, Kate Newman of Hernando; a grandson, Gregory Piner of Memphis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Bro. Billy Little and Bro. Jack Ezell officiated the services with Ronnie Gant, Eddie Gant, Alan Gant, Robert McCaskill, Joe Harbin, and Jerry Morgan serving as pallbearers. Serving as an honorary pallbearer was Don Mann.

Brenda McHann Jones
   A private family memorial service for Brenda McHann Jones, 59, of Jackson, formerly of Grenada, is Saturday, May 3, at a private family home.
   Mrs. Jones died April 25, 2014, at Wiser Hospital in Jackson after a courageous battle with cancer.
   She was born on Sept. 1, 1954.
   Mrs. Jones worked at Community Place in Jackson for many years and more recently at Fun Knives in Brandon. She loved her co-workers very much.
   She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest and Nancy McHann and Edgar Morris.
   Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, Josh Jones of Brandon; her parents, Jimmy and Dean McHann of Brandon; her grandmother, Vella Morris of Grenada; a sister, Teresa McHann of Jackson; two grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, aunts, cousins, other family and friends.
   Memorials may be sent to Brandon Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 Brandon Baptist Drive, Brandon, MS 39042.

Carol Gossett Kornegay
   Funeral services for Carol Gossett Kornegay, 64, of Cherokee Village, Ark., formerly of Oxford, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Delay Baptist Church in Lafayette County. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
   Mrs. Kornegay died April 25, 2014, in Cherokee Village.
   She was born on Nov. 19, 1949, to the late Bennie Nolan and Wynona Trammel Gossett.
   Mrs. Kornegay was a homemaker and enjoyed arts and crafts, country music and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Delay Baptist Church.
   She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Michelletti of Oxford; two sons, Jeff Michelletti of Leland, N.C., and Greg DePriest of Tupelo; three brothers, Bennie Gossett of Tula, Miss., Barry Gossett of Oxford, and Eddie Gossett of Henderson, Texas; one grandchild, four step-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
   Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge.

Carl Thomas Lipe
   Memorial services for Carl Thomas Lipe, 82, of Greenwood, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Episcopal Church of Nativity. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner, Miss., at a later date.
   Mr. Lipe died April 26, 2014, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
   He was born on April 18, 1932, in Vance, Miss., in Tallahatchie County, to Carl and Ruby Lipe.
   Mr. Lipe was a graduate of Clarksdale High School and the University of Mississippi. He worked for Production Credit Association for many years and retired.
   He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Lipe Miles of Greenwood; a granddaughter, Margaret Webb Miles of Greenwood; and a niece, May Lipe Zehuder Mintz of Madison.

Deborah McCoy
   Funeral services for Deborah “Dee” McCoy, 59, of Greenville, formerly of Grenada, are at noon Saturday, May 3, at Clark-Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
   Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
   Mrs. McCoy died April 29, 2014, in Greenville of heart failure.
   She was born on Dec. 28, 1954, to the late Jaddie Black and Ruth Black.
   Mrs. McCoy worked in food service at Delta Regional in Greenville.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton Black, Sammie Black and John Black.
   Mrs. McCoy is survived by her husband, James McCoy of Greenville; four daughters, Martina Black of Grenada, Latoya Black of Hollandale, Deandrea McCoy of Greenville and Sonia Black of Memphis; four sisters, Posie Harbin, Mary Herron and Deloris Crockett, all of Grenada, Johnnie Parker of Lakeland, Fla.; and a special friend, Yvonne Young.

Ruby Melton
   Mrs. Ruby Melton, 72, of Grenada, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 1, 1942, in Grenada to the late Hayden and Wilma Smith Denley. She was a cherished homemaker.
   A visitation was held Wednesday, April 30, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., at Garner-Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Damon Plumner and Shelby Seallions officiating.
   Mrs. Melton is survived by her husband, Butch Melton of Holcomb; two daughters, Arlene Melton Brooks of Batesville and Terry Ann Schaefer of Holcomb; two sisters, Tina Yeagel of Nettleton and Elizabeth Seymore of Holcomb; along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Rushing; and her brother, Terry Denley.
   Pallbearers were Eddie Brooks, Walter Schaefer, Ben Elliot, Kenny Anderson, Larry Yeager, and John Witsell.
   Garner-Harper Funeral Home was in charge.

Larry Clayton Palmertree Jr.
   Funeral services for Larry Clayton Palmertree Jr., 42, of Canton, formerly of Brandon, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, in Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Vaiden.  
   Mr. Palmertree died April 29, 2014, at his residence.  
   He was born on April 2, 1972, in Kosciusko.  
   Mr. Palmertree was a self-employed carpenter and a Baptist, who loved his family and adored his children.  
   He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Annie Palmertree and Charlie and Annie Bruce.
   Mr. Palmertree is survived by his daughter, Bella Rae Palmertree of Brandon; a son, Steven Floyd Palmertree of Brandon; his parents, Larry Clayton and Loyce Palmertree, both of Poplar Creek; a sister, Susanne Kimmons of Pearl; a niece, two great-nieces, many cousins and a host of friends.
   Memorials may be made to Hebron Cemetery Fund, 392 Bogasha Road, Vaiden, MS 39176.

Ruby Ann King Taylor
   Funeral services for Ruby Ann King Taylor, 98, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at First U.M. Church in Water Valley. Burial followed in Pine Flat Methodist Church Cemetery in Lafayette County.
   Mrs. Taylor died April 26, 2014, at Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley.  
   She was born in Lafayette County to the late Benjamin Franklin and Martha Easley King.
   Mrs. Taylor was a faithful member of First U.M. Church of Water Valley, and enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and flower beds and spending time with family and friends.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Coley Taylor; a sister, Gladys Thweatt; two brothers, Carmon E. King and Doris King; and two grandchildren.
   Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter, Joanne Taylor Myers of Columbus, Miss.; three sons, Bennie C. Taylor, Kenneth K. Taylor and James Timothy Taylor, all of Water Valley; two sisters, Jean Sarsgard of West Point and Geraldine Jenkins of Water Valley; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  
   Memorials be made to First U.M. Church of Water Valley; or to Pine Flat U.M. Church in Lafayette County.

Booker T. Thompson
   Funeral services for Booker T. Thompson, 53, of Grenada, are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Belle Flower M.B. Church. Burial will follow in Sweethome Cemetery.
   Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
   Mr. Thompson died April 28, 2014, at UMMC in Jackson of a stroke.
   He was born on Jan. 20, 1961.
   Mr. Thompson enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with family. He earned his G.E.D.
   He is survived by three sisters, Wilma Thompson-Hurd of Grenada, Betty A. Graves of Slidell, La., Janice Konewin of Hammond, La.; two brothers, Lee A. Thompson of Grenada and G. V. Thompson of Sunflower, Miss.; and a special friend, Bernice Wright.

Robert Lee Toole
   Robert Lee Toole, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in Memphis. Robert Lee was born in Enid on Sept. 25, 1935, to James A. Toole and Janie Lee McCullar Toole.
   Robert Lee, a farmer and cattleman, lived in Scobey. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada. An avid duck and fox hunter, Robert Lee was a lifetime member of the Teoc Hunting Club.
   Survivors include his wife, Donnie Crenshaw Toole of Scobey; two sons, Charles Toole of Grenada and Robert Lee Toole Jr. of Hernando; three brothers, James I. Toole of Boyd, Texas, Terry H. Toole of Grenada, Melvin Toole of Teasdale, Miss.; two sisters, Betty Jane Matthews of Batesville and Carolyn Via of Cleveland, Miss.; and five grandchildren.
   There was a visitation in the Parish Hall of All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada on Thursday, May 1, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service held at the church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Elizabeth Wheatley-Jones officiating.
   Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada following the service.

Janice Ruth Watson
   Funeral services for Janice Ruth Watson, 64, of Carrollton, are at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton.
   Mrs. Watson died April 28, 2014, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.  
   She was a teacher at J.Z. George Middle School in North Carrollton. She was very dedicated to her students and her fellow staff members. Mrs. Watson was a devoted wife and mother.
   Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, David Watson Sr.; her parents, Thomas Minga and Mae Minga; a sister, Shirley Thomas; and a brother, Thomas W. Minga Sr.
   She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Watson of Carrollton; a son, David Watson Jr. of Greenwood; a grandson; and a niece and several nephews.
