For the majority of the 2014 season, the Kirk Academy tennis team has dominated District 1-AA.
Earlier this week, it showed as the teams gathered at Bayou Academy in Cleveland for the District 1-AA Tournament.
The Raiders won the boys’ team title while the girls qualified two teams for the North AA Tournament Monday.
Eighth grader Morgan Claire Rose qualified in No. 2 girls singles. Katie Toole and Laynee Marchant will be competing in the No. 2 girls doubles competition.
On the boys’ side, Davis Roberts will be in No. 1 singles. Travis Taylor and Holman Taylor in No. 1 boys doubles. Jones Stanford and Jaggars Denley in No. 1 boys doubles.
Kassandra Beck and Taylor Faulkner qualified in mixed doubles.
Rose won 6-1, 6-2 against Peyton Scott in girls’ singles.
Lee and Kinard won 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 against Sarah Allyn Hill and Abby Gilbert in girls doubles. Toole and Marchant had a 4-6, 6-1, 11-9 win over Brantley Hill and Mary Weldon Daniels.
Beck and Faulkner downed Anna Peyton Montesi and Jay Terrell in mixed doubles by a 6-1, 6-3 count. Travis Taylor and Holman Taylor won 6-2, 6-2 against Cary Marshall and Josh Hill. Stanford and Denley won 6-0, 6-1 against Tyler Hill and Scheifer Phillips.
Margaret Taylor lost 6-7, 6-7 against Angelique DuBois. Roberts dropped a 5-7, 11-9, 8-10 match with Andrew Garrett. J.D. Staten lost 1-6, 2-6 to Walt Hill.
Margaret Taylor won 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 over Hastings Neal. Rose came away with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Emily Denson.
Marchant and Grace Gober downed Schaefer Llapa and Hannah Heafner 6-4, 6-1. Annie Herring and Elizabeth Taylor won 6-2, 6-1 against Jordan Raney and Kelsay DeShazier.
Beck and Faulkner won their mixed doubles by forfeit. Denley and Stanford also won by forfeit. Travis Taylor and Holman Taylor were 6-0, 6-0 winners against Alex Sigler and Nelson Howell.
Will Tartt won a 6-3, 6-0 match against Austin Pointer. Roberts lost 7-6, 4-6, 6-10 to Colin Hartman.
