The railroad doesn’t  go through Holcomb anymore but the town is getting ready to celebrate the history of the old Doodle Bug service.
The third annual Doodle Bug Festival kicks off May 3 at 9 a.m. in downtown Holcomb and organizers with the Lions’ Club are excited.
“We’ll have a talent show, country and gospel music, train rides for the kids, a bake sale, vendors  and much more,” said Betty Jo Morrison, vice president of the Lions’ Club.
Hamburgers and barbecue sandwiches are on the menu.
“We encourage everyone to come out and have a great time, and bring their lawn chairs,” said Morrison.
The festival is named for the 1925 passenger train that once ran from Grenada to Greenwood.
