Two men were killed in a head-on collision Friday morning just south of Duck Hill near Eskridge.
According to Trooper Anthony Dunn, public affairs officer with the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop D in Greenwood, the two vehicles collided shortly before 11 a.m. on Highway 51 near the former Mills Country Corner restaurant.
According to Dunn, a man he identified as 64-year-old Robert Bush of Winona, was driving north in a Western Star logging truck when a Pontiac Sunbird veered over into his lane.
The Pontiac was driven by by a man Dunn identified as 46-year-old James Owneby of West.
“Evidence suggests that Owenby was attempting to pass another vehicle when he struck the oncoming truck,” said Dunn.
Both bodies were sent to the crime lab in Jackson for autopsies, Dunn said.
“The accident is still under investigation by the MHP,” Dun said, adding that MHP doesn’t assign blame in an accident, but is simply documenting the evidence.
