The Grenada Area Chamber of Commerce is observing its annual anti-litter week, and local citizens are encouraged to participate.
The Civic Pride Committee has arranged for large dumpsters to be placed in the parking lot of the old hosiery mill.
All citizens are encouraged to put trash in the dumpsters and to clean up around their property and neighborhoods.
“We want this to be an opportunity for all citizens to beautify the city,” said Virginia Fulton, administrative assistant at the chamber.
Items that cannot go into the dumpster are things such as old tires, paint or any appliances that contain freon, such as refrigerators or air conditioners. Those items are considered hazardous waste.
“We look forward each year to providing a week for our Grenada citizens to clean up their yards and homes,” said Fulton. “We encourage everyone to look around their yards, pick up trash and unsightly items, and to take them to the dumpster at no charge.”
