It was another frustrating day on the diamond for the Kirk Raiders. Again, walks and errors were a big player in the doubleheader with the Winona Stars.
The Stars swept the doubleheader by score of 8-7 and 5-3. Kirk had a combined nine walks and 10 errors in the two games.
“We continue to walk batters and commit errors,” Coach Nathan Moncrief said. “Hopefully, we can learn from this and it make us better.”
Winona led 4-2 when Kirk scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Stars answered with three in the top of the fourth and one in the sixth.
The Raiders rallied in the bottom of the seventh but came up short, scoring twice.
John Kenneth Brower was the losing pitcher. He allowed five hits and four earned runs, walking five and striking out four.
Wyatt Harrison was the leading hitter with a single and a double, driving in a run.
In the second game, the Stars broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the seventh.
Clay Ralston went six innings allowing eight hits and three earned runs. Harrison finished the contest.
Cole Crenshaw was the leading hitter with two hits.
Kirk travels to Clarksdale Lee for a 4 p.m. contest today. They entertain the Colts at 4 p.m. Thursday.
