Hoteliers from throughout the Lake City gathered at the Chamber of Commerce Monday to unify their voices.
Representatives from America’s Best Value Inn, Comfort Inn and Suites, Econo Lodge, Hampton Inn and Suites, Hilltop Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Quality Inn and Relax Inn met to form a body that will be represented at Tourism Commission meetings.
The hotels and motels were already represented on the Tourism Commission Board, but now there is actually a unified group standing behind the representative.
The Hotel and Motel Association had not formally existed for years, but much like members of the newly-resurgent Restaurant Association earlier this month, some folks made a grass roots push to organize.
“I want to thank you all for coming, and I want you to know that I’m here to serve your interests,” said Cheryl Stevens, the general manager at Hampton Inn and Suites, who was appointed to represent hotels and motels on the Tourism Board last year.
