Bond remains the same and a continuance has been granted in the case of a Grenada man who was arrested after a house full of guns and what appeared to  marijuana plants were found by the sheriff’s department.
The suspect, identified by officials as John R. Smith, 69, remains in the Grenada County Jail on $170,000 bond after deputies discovered what they described as a large growing facility in a house on Nelia Road on Feb. 25.
The state crime lab has not yet made the official determination as to whether the plants are actually marijuana.
Twenty-four guns were also found in the residence along with some 25,000 rounds of ammunition.
According to sheriff’s officials, Smith is a convicted felon and, with the drug charges still pending, he faces counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to Deputy Eric Williamson, Smith made an initial appearance in court Thursday where he requested a continuance, because his legal counsel  had not be arranged.
No information was available as to whom would represent Smith.
Smith was granted a continuance until April 13, Williamson said.
