An autopsy reveals that  a young  Grenada woman died of asphyxiation as the man accused in her murder has been extradited to the county jail where he awaits trial.
According to Capt. George Douglas with the Grenada Police Department, a man he identified as James Williams, 34, of Grenada, is set to appear before the Grenada County Grand Jury when it next convenes in July. Williams will spend the interim at the Grenada County Jail, where he arrived early last week from Tennessee.
Williams faces murder charges in connection with the death of Candice D. Davis, 33, who was found unresponsive in her apartment on the 300 block of Main St. around 12:35 a.m. on Feb. 19.
Davis was pronounced dead on the scene.
Williams was arrested in Memphis around 2 a.m. Feb. 20, by federal marshals. He was picked up on a warrant issued for his arrest in Akron, Ohio, for violation of a protection order Davis had against him, Douglas said.
Williams appeared in a Grenada court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Douglas said.
