A Grenada County sheriff’s deputy crashed a county vehicle while responding to a call Sunday.
According to Personnel and Administrative Officer Eric Williamson, Deputy Steve Winters was traveling south around 1 p.m., when his vehicle hit a patch of water and skidded off the road, striking a tree then a house near Cedar Creek Nursery on Highway 51 south.
Winters was not injured, according to Williamson.
“Deputy Winters was responding to a call about a vehicle that rolled over near Exit 199 off I-55,” Williamson said.
The house, which suffered what Williamson called minor damage, belongs to Dewayne Lampkin, Williamson said.
Winters’s SUV was a total loss, Williamson said.
