The Kirk Raiderettes may arguably be the youngest team in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.
Coach Amy Hudspeth has relied on several of her junior high players to contribute at the varsity level. Kirk has just one senior and one junior with the rest being younger.
As the season winds down, the Raiderettes seem to be peaking as a team. Coming off an upset win of North Delta last week, Kirk hosted division rival Indianola Tuesday. In the previous meeting, IA won by nine at Indianola.
It was a different story this time around.
Kirk jumped to an 11-0 first quarter lead. Indianola came roaring back to get within four points. The Raiderettes led by eight at halftime.
