The wins have been few for the Grenada High School girls’ basketball program. Two years ago, they won just three games and doubled that total to six last year.
Tuesday, GHS had a chance to equal that total at Hernando in the Region 2-6A opener for both teams.
The Lady Chargers put together one of the best offensive games in the tenure. Still, Grenada managed to make enough plays to send the game in overtime.
In the extra session, the game went back and forth. Grenada had a one-point lead in the final eight seconds. Freshman guard Nykesha Stewart hit two free throws in the waning seconds to enable the Lady Chargers to escape with a 64-61 victory.
