Martha Welch Bell
   Funeral services for Martha Welch Bell, 63, of Senatobia, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in the LDS Cemetery in Sarah, Miss.
   Mrs. Bell died Nov. 27, 2013, at her home.
   She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Bell.
   Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Littlejohn of Senatobia and Elizabeth Thompson of Potts Camp; two sisters, Lounette Freeman and Brenda Welch of Holcomb; brother, Dennis Welch of Pope; and five grandchildren.

Howard C. Briscoe
   Funeral services for Howard C. Briscoe, 88, of Vaiden, formerly of Memphis, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Old Plank Cemetery in Vaiden.
   Mr. Briscoe died Dec. 2, 2013, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenwood of heart failure.
   He was a city mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Memphis, where he was recognized for his integrity and bravery. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis and an avid fisherman.
   Mr. Briscoe was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Sallie Briscoe; three sisters, Drucilla Austin, Melody Briscoe, and Alma Briscoe Caldwell; and six brothers, Carl Briscoe, Jimmy Lee Briscoe, Virgil Briscoe, Victor Briscoe, C. L. Briscoe, and Luther Briscoe.
   Memorials may be made to the Old Plank Cemetery Fund, 3 CR 36, Vaiden, MS 39176.

Lena Mae Pickle Dowdle
   Funeral services for Lena Mae Pickle Dowdle, 70, of Grenada, are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the National Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grenada.
   Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at 5 p.m. at National Funeral Home.  
   Lena died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada.
   Lena was born on Oct. 18, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Connie Lee Pickle and Winnie Lee Smith Pickle of Grenada.
   Lena was employed by Pennaco Hosiery Mill for over 40 years where she worked in Quality Assurance.  She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.  
   Mrs. Dowdle is survived by her husband of 54 years, Samuel L. Dowdle of Grenada; one daughter, Brenda Dowdle Mooneyham and her husband, Joe, of Grenada; two sons, Sam Dowdle and his wife, Tracie, of Grenada and John Dowdle of Grenada; two sisters, Bernie Newman of Laurel and Paula Prewitt of Grenada; two brothers, J. W. Pickle of Grenada, and Larry Pickle of Grenada; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wilma Nell Fielder
   Funeral services for Wilma Nell Fielder, 83, of Winona, were at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Winona Garden of Memory.  
   Mrs. Fielder died Dec. 1, 2013, at her resident of heart failure.
   She was born on June 21, 1930, and was the daughter of Wilburn and Alva Bell Stewart Alford.
   Mrs. Fielder was a homemaker and a member of North Winona Baptist Church.  
   In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel D. Fielder.  
   Survivors include three daughters, Ranelle Eubanks of Rison, Ark., Susan Coleman of Florence and Betty Jo Lambert of Jay, Fla.; son, Danny Fielder of Winona; two sisters, Mary Lynn Welch of Vaiden and Lillian Hunsinger of Leeds, Ala.; two brothers, James “Son” Alford of Vaiden and Walter Alford of Winona; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Larry Wade Johnson
   A private family graveside service for Larry Wade Johnson, 56, of Tupelo, was held Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Chapel Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Grenada County.
Larry died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, in Grenada.
   He was born on Sept. 12, 1957, and was the son of Walter Glen Johnson and Rose Marie Price Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla.
   Larry was employed by Celerit Solutions as a systems programming manager. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gore Springs. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
   Larry was preceded in death by his father, Walter Glen Johnson.
   Larry is survived by his wife, Patty Bramlett Johnson of Tupelo; two daughters, Allison Johnson Dye and her husband, Chris, of Hernando and Jessica Claire Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Susan Horton of Montgomery, Ala.; his mother, Rose Marie Johnson, also of Montgomery, Ala; one niece and one nephew, Natalie Taylor of Wetumpka, Ala., and Chad Horton of Flat Rock, Ala.
   There was a celebration of life for Larry at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Gore Springs Community Center.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapel Hill Church Cemetery or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Adelphia Chiocco Marascalco
   Adelphia Chiocco Marascalco, 86, passed away peacefully at her residence in Holcomb, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. She was born May 4, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Domniqua and Jemia Chiocco. She was a member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church and also a member of the former Ladies Sodality Women’s Group of the church. She was a housewife and beloved mother of eight children.
   Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Garner Harper Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Rosary prayer service will be at 7 p.m in the funeral home chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with Father Martin Ruane officiating.
   She is survived by a son, Louis Marascalco Jr. (Lynne) of Grenada; and six daughters, Annette Smith (Jimmy) of Greenwood, Jamie Pritchard of Grenada, Mary Staten (Bob) of Grenada, Josephine Thornton of Holcomb, Margaret Edwards (Donald) of Holcomb, and Patricia Shankle (Jeff) of Grenada. She was blessed to have 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Marascalco Sr.; infant daughter, Suzanna Marascalco; infant granddaughter, Memorie Edwards; and infant great-granddaughter, Sophia Grace Staten.
   Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Louis Marascalco III, Lance Smith, Joe Pritchard, Robby Staten, Greg Staten, Michael Harbour, Tanner Thornton, and Christopher Edwards.
   The family requests that memorials be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 320 College Blvd., Grenada, MS 38901.

Larry Boykin McClellan
   Funeral services for Larry Boykin McClellan, 82, of Winona are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at First Baptist Church in Winona. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.  
   Visitation is Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Winona.
   Mr. McClellan died Dec. 4, 2013, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital of heart failure.
   He was born in Carroll County to Otis and Lela Weeks McClellan.  
   Mr. McClellan was a retired businessman and merchant. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church in Winona.
   He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Barbara Alldread McClellan of Winona; a daughter, Deborah Bourn of Coffeeville; two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; and a niece.

Helen Moss Parks
   Helen Moss Parks, 89, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Grace Health and Rehab Center in Grenada.  
   She was born March 20, 1924, in Bolivar, Tenn., to Oscar and Elizabeth Harris Moss. She was a retired school teacher and church organist. She graduated with honors from Union University, in Tennessee, where she was president of her Chi Omega Chapter.
   A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada with Rev. Morgan Parks officiating.
   She is survived by her son, Sherrill Parks Jr. of Grenada; her daughter, Jane Parks of Memphis; and her granddaughter, Paige Parks of Oxford.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherrill Parks; and a son, Ed Parks.
   In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Fred Hill Vance
   Funeral services for Fred Hill Vance, 83, of Grenada, were at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.  Bro. Brent Barker, Bro. Barry Worrell and Bro. J.C. Provine officiated the service. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada. Pallbearers were Brandon Vance, Jason Provine, Haley Easley, Warren Toombs, Keith Bodet, and Brent Long.  Honorary pallbearers were Don Mayhan, Odom Mayhan, Charles Caffey, and John Newman.
   Visitation was Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
   Fred died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at his home.
   He was born on March 24, 1930, and was the son of the late Tom Fox Vance and Madie Carpenter Vance of Carroll County, Miss.
   Fred was employed as a wholesale meat distribution sales representative.  He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  Fred was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 4488, served as Treasure of the DAV, was a past member of the Civitan Club, and was past Sunday School Superintendent at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
   Mr. Vance is survived by his wife, Barbara Cooper “Bobbie” Vance of Grenada; four daughters, Sherry Vance Provine of Grenada, Freida Vance Easley of Cleveland, Ginger Vance Toombs of Grenada, and Wanda Costilow Sparks of Grenada; one son, Fred Hill Vance Jr. of Grenada; six grandchildren, Jason Craig Provine, Barbara Provine Barton, Candice Corbett Fioranelli, Brandon Hill Vance, Anna Grace Toombs, Candice Wilkins, Michelle Whiteside, Haley Easley, Sam Easley, and Seth Sparks; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah Provine, Cohen Barton, Camden Barton, Hudson Williams, Mimi Easley, Haley Easley, and Ella Vance; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosie Mae Washington
   Funeral services for Rosie Mae Washington, 63, of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Burning Bush M.B. Church. Burial will follow in Haven Rest Cemetery.
   Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
   Ms. Washington died Nov. 28, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
   She was born on Nov. 29, 1949, to Beulah Washington and the late Edmond Washington Sr.
   Ms. Washington was the first female police officer in Grenada. She was a Baptist and a member of the Laverette Social Club and the Leflore Lanes Bowling Team. She enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards. Ms. Washington earned her bachelor of science degree from Mississippi Valley State University in 1974.
   In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sisters, Versie D. Nance, Nora W. Faison, Diane Washington and Edna Washington-Williams, all of Grenada; and six brothers, Edmond Washington Jr., Charles Washington and Gwyn Washington, all of Grenada, Thomas Washington of Jackson, Chester Washington of Gary, Ind., and James Earl Washington of Gaitherburg, Md.
