Two candidates will be on the ballot for the District Four school board election.
Circuit Clerk Linda Barnette said that incumbent Marjorie Hughes will be challenged by Grenada attorney Carlos Moore.
The District Four seat was vacated in November of last year when Hughes’s husband, James, died after serving for 23 years. The school board exercised its power to appoint Hughes to her deceased husband’s seat until the Nov. 5 election.
Moore suggested last year that he would file a lawsuit to force the school board to hold a special election. He didn’t follow through with that claim, but he told the GrenadaStar on Monday that he still felt a special election was warranted.
Moore said he felt the election should be about the future and not the past.
