Grenadian Wayne Roberts readies his plane for a practice run at the Grenada Airport. Roberts will serve as host for the 4th Annual Armed Forces Memorial Aeerobatic Competition at the facility. An estimated 35-40 pilots from across the United States will be in Grenada for the two-day event.

Wayne Roberts never thought his idea to bring an aerobatic competition would ‘take off’ like it has.
   Boy, was he ever wrong.
The Armed Forces Aerobatic Competition begins its fourth season Friday. Each of the first three events drew better than 30 competitors. Not bad for something Roberts thought would be just a gathering.
“I thought it would be a quiet gathering of 10-12 pilots for a weekend,” Roberts said. “It was to be a fun time to showcase our town. Not in my wildest dreams did I think it would have the impact it has. We have gone from just a few people coming out to watching to having their field area covered up with people. The popularity has grown in Grenada.”
