Bobby Rush is thrilled to be headlining Thunder on Water.
“I’ve played the event a couple of times before, and this is like coming home party for me,” said Rush, a Grammy-nominated blues and soul artist from Jackson.
The Thunder on Water Safe Boating Festival is set for June 12-16, and the concert will be June 15 with gates opening at 5 p.m. Admission is $15.
The concert will take place in the field across from the Grenada Airport.
Rush plans to perform his familiar hits, like “Night Fishin,” “Chicken Heads,” and “Blind Snake.”
“I’ll see all my friends in Grenada,” said Rush, who was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2006. Rush also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mississippi Arts Commission in 2013.
“There are lots of good people in that town, and I look forward to putting on a good show. I plan to play for about an hour and half,” he said.
Others acts at the Thunder on Water concert will include Lady Trucker and T.K. Soul and Lewis Johnson.
Folks are welcome to bring coolers and lawn chairs, however glass containers are prohibited.
“We’re excited about the lineup for this year’s concert and we think it will be a good time for all,” said Wanda Roche, chairman of the event.
